Lafayette DA Says Brandon Lavergne May Be Tried For Shunick, Pate Cases Together
As we reported last week, Brandon Lavergne was indicted by a grand jury in Lafayette for the first degree murder of the still-missing Mickey Shunick. But in a shocking twist in the case, Lavergne was also charged with the first degree murder of Lisa Pate, an Acadia Parish woman who was found dead in 1999. Now the Lafayette Parish District attorney is saying that both cases may be tried together.

UPDATES 8:23 a.m.: Police have identified the shooter as James Holmes, 24.  CBS News reports that when police when to Holmes's apartment, it was "booby trapped" with ammunition and chemicals.  The death toll from the attack originally reported 14 deaths, though officials have since revised that number to 12.

Yesterday it was reported that a homicide had occurred in South Lake Charles at 5763 California Trail.  It was reported that the victim was a 62 year old male. Now the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office has confirmed that an arrest has been made in the crime and the subject turns out to be the victims wife!
