Last week was rough for the New Orleans Saints franchise.  They lost draft picks and the NFL suspended head coach Sean Payton for one year.  Paytons suspension begins in April and he is trying to take care of the Saints before he has to leave.

ESPN is reporting that the Saints coach along with general manager Mickey Loomis are scheduled to me with legendary coach Bill Parcells to become interim head coach for the year that Payton is gone.

Here is what ESPN just released about the situation:

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis are scheduled to meet with Bill Parcells on Tuesday to gauge his interest in becoming New Orleans' interim head coach while Payton serves a one-year suspension, according to a league source.

Payton and Loomis are in Florida for the NFL owners' meetings, and Parcells lives nearby.

Payton has been suspended for a year and Loomis for eight regular-season games for failing to halt a bounty program that paid Saints defenders for hits that resulted in opponents having to leave the game.

Yet one NFL source said Monday night that he would be "shocked" if Parcells took the Saints job, largely because he likely would have to wait five more years to be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame if he returned to coaching.

Payton has until Monday, April 2 to appeal the suspension.

So I wonder what is going to happen?  It would be great to have Parcells on board but I don't think he will come coach the Saints and have to start the wait all over again to get into the Hall Of Fame.
