The United Way of SWLA worked during both Hurricanes Laura and Delta to help residents of the lake area get back on their feet with much needed food and supplies. Now, they are stepping up again to do the same for Christmas.

A lot of homes in SWLA are being demolished, residents are living with other families, and even in campers while their homes are repaired. These unaccounted for costs have no doubt dipped into any Christmas budget we have have previously had for the holiday season. This means it can take a toll on the gift giving during Christmas. The United Way of SWLA will be handing out toys at the Lake Charles Civic Center on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no registration forms to fill out before receiving a toy, but you will need to wait in line.

The event is this Saturday, December 19 and will begin at 10:00am and run until 2:00pm. The child receiving the toy must be present and 13 years of age or younger. You can begin lining up for the toy drive-thru at 8:30am and enter from Bord Du Lac Drive at the Lake Charles Civic Center. It is entirely free for all lake area residents.
