Contraband Days

Yesterday it was announced that the Contraband Days Festival is getting a face lift and a name change.

Jean Lafitte will invade the Lake Charles Civic Center seawall tonight to official begin Contraband Days and make Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach walk the plank.

Contraband days festival starts today thru Sunday, May 7th with all the entertainment condensed into just one weekend.

The annual Louisiana Pirate Festival means different things to different people, and it's a problem. But that might be changing.

Contraband Days festival in Lake Charles is set to start on May 4th, 2017 and new this year is that the festival has been condensed down to one week as far as the entertainment

On May 4, 1975, The King of Rock 'n' Roll landed in Lake Charles, La., for two sold-out shows at the Civic Center during Contraband Days. For some Lake Charles residents, it's still the biggest show that ever rocked the lake.

Contraband Days 2013 is in full swing and is located on the Lake Charles Civic Center Grounds. The festival started on Tuesday April 30th and will end this Sunday May 12th, 2013. Today,  Cajun music will reign supreme featuring a all-star lineup of bands. Update 8:30 a.m.-- All the concerts have been moved to inside the Civic Center Coliseum due to the threat of rain.

Jean Lafitte and his band of pirates will take over the city of Lake Charles tonight.  They will force Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach and other local area Mayors to walk the plank and it will mark the start of the two week festival known as Contraband Days. The festival takes place in downtown Lake Charles on the Civic Center grounds with carnival rides, food, events and entertainment.

Contraband Days 2013 kicks off this week and will go for two full weeks in Lake Charles.  Contraband Days is located on the Lake Charles Civic Center Grounds. The festival runs from Tuesday April 30th through Sunday May 12th, 2013.  The Cajun music day will be on Saturday, May 13th featuring a all-star lineup of bands.

  New events are being added to the Contraband Days line up this year. With that in mind, we were wondering if you miss some of the events that no longer are part of the festival.

The 56th annual Contraband Days will kick off Tuesday, April 30, and will include a new event called Spike ’n’ Splash.

There was a time when Contraband days drew close to a half a million people over it's two week run in late April/ early May. The draw is not as big anymore. The Contraband Days board is working hard to rebuild this once signature event. Wil...
