Tootsie Rolls

Regular Chocolate or Fruity Flavored Ones?  Your Choice!

It's everybody's favorite quick treat -- "The Tootsie Roll."  For years, they just had the small chocolate ones.  Then they branched out to those bigger ones like the big Tootsie log that you need to have a day to eat and a logger truck to tote around.  Then came the fruity flavored ones.  Personally, I like the flavored ones better.  Isn't it fun to eat a chocolate one then go for a fruity flavored one?  That's the strategic way of eating them.  Halloween is almost here, and the Tootsie Roll is your #5 favorite treat!

Chocolate

What kind of chocolate?  You told us it doesn't matter.

Coming in at #4 is chocolate.  You really weren't that specific.  Most of you said "CHOCOLATE  YUUMMMMMM!!!!" -- which made me laugh out loud.  Whether it's a Reese's, Butterfinger or just a plain ole bar of chocolate, it's all good, according to you!  They say having a little chocolate is good for your health.  Tell that to your scale.  Heh.

Money

Well, cash is king, isn't it?

Now, this one didn't surprise me too much.  A bunch of people in our survey just plainly put "MONEY!"  I guess with the current economy, people are looking for cash during this Halloween season instead of cavities. So are you saying you want to get money from the Jack-O-Lantern fairy this year?  Well, whatever your wish is, cold hard cash came in at the #3 spot on our top 5.

Popcorn Balls

Caramel or regular?

This threw me for a loop.  It was funny to see how many people liked having the old-fashion popcorn balls instead of the current candy treats on the market.  Some of you like the regular popcorn balls and others really prefer the caramel popcorn balls. I know this -- they are fun to eat either way. They're also really fun to make, too!  Here is a little recipe on how to make these:

What You Need

1 gal. (16 cups) popped popcorn
6 squares  BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup PLANTERS Dry Roasted Peanuts, chopped
1 bag  (14 oz.) KRAFT Caramels
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
1 cup  BAKER'S ANGEL FLAKE Coconut
1/4 tsp. salt

Make It

PLACE half each of the popcorn and chopped chocolate in each of two large bowls; toss lightly. Add peanuts to popcorn mixture in one of the bowls; toss lightly.

ADD caramels and butter to medium saucepan; cook on low heat 5 min. or until caramels are completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring constantly. Add coconut and salt; mix well. Pour half of the caramel mixture over ingredients in each bowl; mix with spoon until evenly coated.

SPRAY hands with cooking spray; use to shape popcorn mixture into 12 balls. Insert wooden pop stick into each ball. Place on wax paper-covered plate. Refrigerate several hours or until firm. Store in covered container at room temperature.

Enjoy making these, giving them out as treats or just snacking on them on your own.

Candy Corn

I can eat this 'til I am sick!

Coming in on the top of your favorites is the Halloween standard "Candy Corn".  This great treat garnered the most votes in our survey, and I have to tell you, I agree!  I really can sit down with a bowl of these delicious orange, white and yYellow treats and literally make myself sick eating them. Ever wonder how these little suckers are made and what makes them taste so good?  Check this out:
