So big things are happening for the LSU Tigers baseball team in the last few days.  First the Tigers beat the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana Lafayette Sunday to advance to the College World Series.  Then Monday night, the Tigers found out that they will face the TCU Horned Frogs in the first round in Omaha.

While that was going on, several players were also watching the Major League Baseball draft which started Monday at 7pm.  It didn't take long for the first LSU Tiger to be picked! Junior shortstop Alex Bregman was picked with the #2 overall pick by the Houston Astros!  Then, junior outfielder Andrew Stevenson was chosen in the second round Monday by the Washington Nationals.

On Tuesday, five LSU players were selected during the second day of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft. That makes a total of seven Tigers selected so far in the draft! According to LSUSports.net:

Senior catcher Kade Scivicque was chosen in the fourth round by the Detroit Tigers, senior infielder Jared Foster was selected in the fifth round by the Los Angeles Angels, senior left-handed pitcher Zac Person was chosen in the ninth round by the Houston Astros, junior outfielder Mark Laird was selected in the ninth round by the Philadelphia Phillies and senior third baseman Conner Hale was chosen in the ninth round by the Seattle Mariners.

I am super excited for Jared Foster.  Jared is from Lake Charles and a former Barbe High School Buccaneer!  Jared played baseball for Barbe and was also the starting quarterback in Football!

Congrats Jared and Geaux Tigers!  Good luck in Omaha!
