Senator Landrieu Banned From Russia

Well I guess Senator Landrieu will not be bringing mudbugs to Russia. She is one of many U.S. officials who have been placed on a travel ban by Russia in retaliation for new U.S. sanctions.

President Obama's administration placed new sanctions on Russia due to Russia's annexation of Crimea. The Russians retaliated by placing a travel ban on several U.S. officials including House Speaker John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Landrieu and others.

According to WWL Louisiana's Senator Mary Landrieu made the travel ban due to being head of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee where the Louisiana Democrat can influence U.S. policy on petroleum and natural gas, two natural resources that Russia also exports.  Landrieu has also been critical of the Russian government after it ended American adoptions of Russian children.
