Riverside Park will be temporarily closed to the general public beginning Monday, February 22 for the second phase of the parks improvements.  Access to the Mac Cobb boat launch and the Riverside transit service will also be closed as of Monday, said a press release from Matt Young with the City of Lake Charles.

A new playground with a rubberized surface, construction of a 2,000 square-foot recreation facility and pavilion at the water’s edge, and restrooms at the park’s entry are set to be constructed during the temporary closing. The gravel parking lot will also be paved, and equipped with additional surveillance equipment.

The improvements are slated to be completed in late Fall of 2016, weather permitting.
