Two hurricanes and the pandemic have delayed construction of the proposed Crying Eagle Brewing restaurant on the lakefront, but it hasn't killed the dream for Crying Eagle President Eric Avery.

Avery told the American Press he feels their project is the greatest development opportunities in the city’s history. He also added there have been a lot of challenges with breaking ground on the restaurant, but he's not giving up.

After Hurricanes Laura and Delta, construction and labor costs have skyrocketed and that's caused them to put the project on hold for the time being. Avery said before the storms, the project was going to cost around $3.5 million to complete, but his latest quote after the storms was $6 million.

The Crying Eagle Brewing restaurant is planned to be located where the old Harrah’s Casino parking garage is and will feature a rooftop bar and covered patio.

This place sounds amazing, and I hope he's able to go forward in the future with the project. It will be an awesome date night spot to take your spouse or significant other to on a cool fall evening to eat at the rooftop bar, with the lights from all the buildings at night in downtown Lake Charles dancing on the lake.
