New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell made a statement yesterday in regards to New Orleans events and festivals for the rest of the year.

Cantrell said she has spoken to event organizers on the matter and feels that because of social distancing, changes will be made.

This decision would affect all large events such as Jazz Fest, French Quarter Festival, and Essence Festival. She believes that the focus should move to 2021.

Cantrell says she has not spoken to the NBA or NFL in regards to what this could mean for the Saints and the Pelicans. She expects the league and team owners are as concerned as she is about the safety and health of players and fans.
