One of the saddest days for donut fans was the day we watched Nelson's Donuts go up in flames in 2019. Everyone had the question as to whether it would return or not. All was quiet for quite some time, then a fence was built and a for sale sign put at the site. Hopes began to drop until an announcement was made that it had been bought and would be brought back to life!

The Nelson's Donuts Rebuild Facebook page gives updates as they make progress. They were just about as lucky as the rest of us after two hurricanes, a freeze, and a flood. It seems they have been pushing on and are getting their inspections in order. They have updated as they have gone through the process including upcoming inspections and proof they can actually make donuts once again.

As of August 13, they posted that they still have two more inspections that they are waiting on. They also reminded their fans that they are still not yet open, and have been having to tell people pulling into their parking lot. Once they do open, they said their hours will be 4:00am to 1:00pm Tuesday through Sunday. I guarantee you I will be there at 3:30am waiting for them to open the first day. I can smell the fresh donuts from here already.
