My Top 5 Funniest Christmas Movies Ever [VIDEO]
So I was scrolling through the old TV last night and starting seeing that different channels are starting to play different Christmas movies for the season.
Then I thought, what are my favorite and funniest Christmas movies of all time. So I decided to compile a list of my Top 5 favorite Christmas movies of all time. It isn't scientific or anything. It's just my five favorite ones.
#5 -- Trading Places
I know it doesn't sound like a Christmas movie but it takes place during that time. The movie is from 1983 and stars Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd, and Jamie Lee Curtis. In the movie, Eddie Murphy plays a homeless man while Dan Aykroyd is a very wealthy wall street exec. The owners of the firm Aykroyd works for thinks it would be cool to switch the two's lives and see how they turn out and the bet $1 to see who wins.
Here is the trailer for the movie:
#4 -- Scrooged
Bill Murray stars in a funny adaptation of Charles Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol" with a twist. In the movie which was released in 1988, Bill Murray is a screwed network TV exec that is just rude to everyone. His old dead boos comes back and warns him that he will be visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past, Ghost of Christmas Present, and Ghost of Christmas Future. They are all crazy and mayhem turns Bill Murray's character upside down. Here a trailer from the movie:
#3 -- ELF
In 2003, Will Ferrell stars in the Christmas movie Elf. I don't know why but Will Farrell cracks me up all the way back to his Saturday Night Live days. In the movie, Will plays Buddy the Elf who lives in the North Pole with Santa Claus. Problem is Buddy finds out that he is not really an Elf. He leaves to find his identity and the laughs begin!
Here are some of the funniest moments in the movie:
#2 -- A Christmas Story
Set back in the 1940's but made in 1983, this movie is a holiday classic. All I have to say is Red Rider BB gun with a compass in the stock. No, you will shoot your eye out! If you have never seen this movie then shame on you! It's one of my favorites about Ralphie a little boy who all he wants for Christmas is the Red Rider BB gun with a compass in the stock and does anything and everything to drop hints to his parents to visiting Santa Claus himself to ask for it. Everywhere he turns he gets the same response: "You will shoot your eye out!"
From the infamous leg lamp to the double dog dares by sticking your tongue to a frozen poll to the pink rabbit suit, this is one of those movies I watch every year and laugh. In my house on Christmas Eve, we turn it on TBS because the run the movie for 24 straight hours. It's a tradition!
#1 -- National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (1989)
This by far is my favorite Christmas Movie of all time! Chevy Chase as Clark Griswald is classic. Not to mention my favorite character of all time in the Lampoon vacation franchise is Cousin Eddie played by Randy Quaid. Cousin Eddie is just plain hilarious! I love his character so much I dressed up as him for Halloween this year. (See Pic below).
Here is my favorite scene from the movie: BE CAREFUL, NOT SAFE FOR WORK!
Did I look like him? LOL If you have never watched this movie, make it a must this holiday season! Here is the full trailer about the movie:
