McNeese will tip-off its 2012-13 basketball season on Friday when the Cowboys host Louisiana College at 7 in Burton Coliseum.

The Cowboys, 17-16 a year ago, returns three players with significant starting experience from last year including preseason all-Southland Conference selection Dontae Cannon, a senior guard who averaged 11.5 points per game and is the team's top returning starter.

Also back will be senior guard Jeremie Mitchell (10.8 ppg), sophomore forward Desharick Guidry (6.4 ppg, 5.4 rpg), sophomore guard Kevin Hardy (3.3 ppg) and junior forward Adrian Fields (4.3 ppg).  McNeese will also regain the services of sophomore forward Craig McFerrin (4.4 ppg, 3.2 rpg) in a few weeks.  McFerrin is still rehabbing a shoulder injury he suffered midway through the season last year that sidelined him for the remainder of the schedule.

Following Friday's game, the Cowboys will hit the road for the first of three games away from home when they visit LSU at 7 on Tuesday in a game that will be televised by Cox Sports Television.  McNeese will travel to Southeast Missouri State on Thursday in a return game from last year's Sears Bracketbuster contest in Lake Charles, then will bus to Oxford, Miss. to face Ole Miss on Nov. 20.

McNeese will return home on Nov. 27 in the nightcap of a doubleheader with Centenary beginning at 5:30.
