Drive Thru Testing Site At Burton Complex In Lake Charles
KPLC 7 reports a COVID-19 drive-thru testing site for high-risk residents with medical conditions is opens today at Burton Coliseum. Testing will be available over a two-week period.
This week, testing will take place from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. Residents can begin lining up as early as 12:30pm. Testing will then resume on Tuesday, March 31, through Thursday, April 2, from 9:00am until 3:30pm each day. Residents may start lining up at 8:30am.
Residents who want to be tested will need a valid driver’s license or state-issued ID and any insurance info they might have. A doctor’s referral is not needed. Please be advised there is a two-person per car maximum and the people being tested must sit in the front seat of the vehicle.
According to KPLC 7, there is a criteria to be tested for COVID-19 at this site. In order to be tested, a person must have a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher and be experiencing either shortness of breath or coughing. Persons wishing to be tested must also fit at least one of the following criteria:
- be over the age of 60
- have underlying condition like heart disease, lung disease, or diabetes
- are immunocompromised
If a person does not meet the eligibility requirements listed above, they will not be tested. There will no bathrooms available and pets are not allowed.
This site is open to residents of Calcasieu, Cameron, Allen, Beauregard, and Jeff Davis parishes.
