McNeese State University issued a statement in regard to the continued rise in COVID cases statewide via their website. All returning students, faculty and staff will be required to wear masks on campus, classrooms and labs. More than likely other universities around the state are likely to follow.

McNeese’s policy falls in line with last weeks mask recommendations from the Louisiana Department of Health and CDC. Gov. John Bel Edwards announced a statewide updated mask guidance will be in place till further notice. He noted the White House has Louisiana listed as a “state of concern,” because we are leading the nation in COVID cases per capita.  Adding. “Conditions are right for catastrophic outcomes for far too many individuals and families.” The LDH says the rapid growth in Louisiana COVID cases and not enough people getting vaccinations is driving the states 4th COVID surge.
