Thousands of people will flock to the Lake Charles Civic Center tonight to celebrate the start of the 2014 Mardi Gras season.

Twelfth night kickoffs of the Mardi Gras season and will feature the outgoing Kings and Queens from the 2013 Mardi Gras year tonight in their final reign.

Mardi Gras kicks off with the Twelfth Night celebration held at the Lake Charles Civic Center, which draws thousands to see the grand promenade of more than 60 krewes.

Visit the Mardi Gras Museum with the largest Mardi Gras costume display in the world. Parades, Children's Day, a Zydeco dance, a Gumbo Cook-off and other events pack various weekends leading up to Mardi Gras.
