The LSU Tigers baseball team are set to kick off the 2014 season and to start the season the Tigers will participate in the Major League Baseball invitational. 

The Tigers will host New Orleans tomorrow night February 14th at Alex Box stadium at 7:00 p.m.

The 2014 LSU baseball season opens at 7 p.m. Friday in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field when the Tigers take on the University of New Orleans as part of the Major League Baseball Urban Invitational.

The three-day tournament designed to showcase the baseball programs at historically black colleges and universities makes its first appearance in Baton Rouge and New Orleans this weekend, and coaches at the local baseball programs are thrilled to serve as hosts.

Four schools – LSU, New Orleans, Grambling State University, Southern University -- will participate in the tourney, which runs Friday to Sunday, and the Urban Youth Academy in New Orleans will host a game and a college fair on Saturday.

LSU is ranked No. 2 in the 2014 USA Today Coaches Preseason Poll and will look to carry the momentum from last season where the Tigers made it all the way to Omaha and the College World Series.
