Louisiana’s Own Hunter Hayes Earns His First Career #1 Country Single [VIDEO]
Hunter Hayes, from Breaux Bridge Louisiana, has gone from playing Cajun music at a young age to one of the hottest Country music stars in the country. He was also just inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame a couple weeks ago.
Now, Hunter's latest single "Wanted" has become the #1 song in the country this week.
Atlantic recording artist and recently announced 2012 CMA New Artist of the Year nominee, Hunter Hayes is celebrating another career first this week as his current single “Wanted” races all the way to the top of the charts. The now No. 1 single is also his first to receive Platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) selling over 1 million copies. “Wanted” is Hunter’s second single off his self-titled debut album, Hunter Hayes, and is also Top 20 all genres on iTunes digital charts. To date, Hunter has sold a combined total of nearly two million digital singles. His first single, “Storm Warning” is nearing Gold certification as well.
“Seriously it's hard for me to believe I'm here talking about my first number one record,” said Hunter upon hearing his single is #1 on both radio charts. “I am unbelievably grateful for the support from Country Radio, my entire team working behind the scenes and all the incredible fans, all of whom helped me pick this song for a single and supported it all the way to where it is! Thank you! Thank you SO much!”
Hunter has come along way from being the little boy who sang and played Cajun music. I still remember playing his song 'Six Years Old" that he recorded back in the day. Matter of fact, we still play it today!
Congrats Hunter from Cajun Radio!
