Louisiana State Police DWI Checkpoint This Friday August 12
Troop D of the Louisiana State Police (LSP) have announced that they plan to conduct a DWI checkpoint at an undisclosed location in Calcasieu Parish this Friday night August 12th.
The LSP along with other local law enforcement agencies do random DWI checkpoints throughout the year to make sure the roadway are safe for everyone. It is also a great way to also get impaired drivers off the road before they hurt themselves or someone else.
According to Sgt. James Anderson with the Louisiana State Police:
Last year, 64 percent of fatal crashes investigated by Troop D involved an impaired driver. Alcohol consumption affects judgement as well as the skills needed to drive safely.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and designate a sober driver before driving to any place where alcohol will be consumed. Not doing so can have deadly consequences.
So if you have plans to get out this Friday night and it involves you having a fes, make sure that you have a designated driver or just stay where you are until you sober up. Remember, no one wants to be a statistic.
