The Advocate quotes the 21st Annual Highway Report by the Reason Foundation stating that Louisiana roads rank 40th in the United States. In 2011 the state was ranked 21st. The drop in the states ranking is said to be due to a drop in maintenance spending for the states roads.

Louisiana's urban interstates only ranked above two other states. According to the report Louisiana ranks 44th in its highway fatality rate, 41st in the condition of rural interstate pavements and 39th in the number of deficient bridges. Though I have certainly not driven over all of the state's highways; I can tell you that the stretch of Interstate 10 between Lafayette and Breaux Bridge is one of then roughest stretches of interstate I have ever driven over. What Louisiana roads do you think need the most repair?
