The Lake Charles Police Department will host an open recruiting event this Saturday in the Contraband Room of the Lake Charles Civic Center.

The release notes that they are looking for motivated, qualified people to join their ranks. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

  • be a United States citizen
  • be at least 21 years old
  • have a high school or equivalency diploma
  • have an unblemished criminal history.

The event begins at 8AM, and will include a physical abilities test, a psychological screening, the application process, and a question and answer session.

Applicants must also take and pass the Municipal Fire And Police Civil Service Test, a polygraph test, and a background check.

The starting pay for a new officer, according to the press release, is $16.72 per hour. Additionally, the city provides a $200 per month supplement for new officers. The position also offers an attractive retirement and insurance benefits package, as well as vacation and education incentives.
