Louisiana Quarterback Says ‘No’ to EA Sports College Video Game
Louisiana has four seasons, there's hunting, hurricanes, carnival, and football. We've just wrapped up the carnival season. I think most of us have survived. We just need to make it through our own obligations until we can make it to Easter Sunday.
Hunting season, for deer anyway, is either wrapped up or just about wrapped up. Did you hear they were looking at extending the deer season by a month? Not everywhere but a place a lot of you like to hunt is thinking about it.
Hurricane season in Louisiana will begin technically on June 1st if we don't get a preseason storm as we have had in the past few seasons. By the way, the 2024 Hurricane Season is shaping up to be rather busy. Let's hope the forecasters are wrong, right?
So, that leaves us with football season as the only Louisiana "season" remaining. It's never not football season in Louisiana. We can always find time to discuss the Saints, the Tigers, the Cajuns, the Cowboys, and whatever they call themselves up at Louisiana Tech. I think they are the Lady Techsters. And then there's ULM, making Monroe, Louisiana the "rent-a-win" capital of the pay-per-play world.
One of the biggest names in football in Louisiana would have to be Manning. The Manning family has provided us with Archie, who deserved better during his playing days. There was also Peyton and Eli who have done well on and off the field.
If Archie is the ghost of Manning-past and Peyton and Eli are the ghosts of Manning-present, then the ghost of Manning-future would have to be Archie's grandson Arch Manning. Arch is currently enrolled at the University of Texas after being one of the most sought-after recruits in college football.
Arch informed EA Sports, the makers of EA Sports College Football 25 that he would not be opting in to have his name and likeness included in the game.
As you can see from the X posting above, Manning plans to focus his attention on playing football on the field, not on the video screen.
EA Sports has reportedly had more than 10,000 student-athletes choose to have their names and likeness included in the rebirth of the popular video game. Each student who chooses to opt in will reportedly be paid $600 and be given a copy of the game. Manning may be the most high-profile name to choose otherwise.
