The Great Acadian Awakening Music Festival is scheduled for the first weekend in October to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the arrival of what we now call our "Cajun" ancestors from the area known today as Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

The McNeese State Baseball team has been very streaky this year. They won their first four games then proceeded to lose four straight. Let's hope they started another winning streak yesterday in Lafayette.

The McNeese State Cowboys first played the Rajun Cajuns football team back in 1951. The last time the two teams tangled the Pokes ruined UL's homecoming with a 18-17 road win. The Rivalry will renew in 2016.

If you're like me, then you're well aware that your Cajun heritage stretches all the way back to France several hundred years ago.  But there was a definite moment in history when our ancestors stopped being French Canadians and became exiles that would be eventually known as Cajuns -- even if they themselves didn't know it yet.  And that moment happened 257 years ago today, July 28, 1755. So you know by now that I love looking for different videos and stories about our artists.  Well today while I was scanning Facebook, I saw this video of Wayne Toups.  It is a video preview of an upcoming documentary called "Do What You Gotta Do" that will be released at a later date. Wayne Toups is probably the biggest and most successful Cajun artist in history.  Check out this video.
