The City Of Lake Charles & Team Green Are Collecting Live Christmas Trees

Now that the Christmas holiday is over, the City of Lake Charles and Team Green have the perfect solution for helping you dispose of your live Christmas tree. Whenever you are ready to get rid of it, please consider donating it to LC Rebound. The city initiative is going to grind the trees up and use the wood shavings for mulch and several other projects.

LC Rebound is a new initiative established by the City of Lake Charles aimed at creating, maintaining, or restoring the city's infrastructure whether it be improvements to education, parks, roads, or various beautification projects. Plus, this is a great way to help reduce waste, by recycling your Christmas tree.

As always, trees will be collected if they are left outside, where you leave your trash for pick-up. However, If you would like to drop it off yourself, bring it to the Nelson Ball Field Recycling Station on Alma Lane. Please make sure all of the ornaments, lights, and festive decor are removed for recycling purposes.

KPLC News reports Vernon Parish residents can drop their trees in the 24-hour drop-off containers at the Fort Johnson Environmental Recycling Center(unit - 3620), on the corner of Georgia and Maine Street. Now through January 6, 2024, the trees collected at that site will be used to improve the habitat for fish and northern bobwhites in the area.

The LC Rebound involves $190 million for infrastructure projects and quality-of-life initiatives in Lake Charles. On November 18, 2023, voters approved two tax proposals that would allow the city to update its tax structure, thereby freeing funds to initiate the program.
