An F.K. White Middle School student has been arrested after being accused of bringing ammunition, a knife, and an airsoft gun to the school, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Kayla Vincent, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman, reported that the incident unfolded around 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 20. At this time, it is unclear how the school facility found out a student had items in his possession that posed a potential danger to others. A member of the F.K. administration notified the campus resource officer immediately.

The officer found in the boy's possession an airsoft gun and other accessories for the weapon, including plastic .380 bullets. In addition, the teen also had a kitchen knife. That student was then arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.

The student was arrested for carrying a dangerous weapon on school property and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center. Given the heinous acts of gun violence exploding around the country: What do you think about common-sense gun laws? Are you worried something like this will happen at your child's school?
