Attention Anglers: LDWF Discussing Future of Lake Claiborne
Nestled in the piney woods near Homer, Louisiana, Lake Claiborne is one of the very reasons why Louisiana truly is the Sportsman's Paradise.

This widely popular man-made fishing lake comprises approximately 6,400 acres and was created by the construction of Claiborne Lock and Dam by the United States Army Corps of Engineers in 1970.
Over the past five and a half decades, since the start of the impoundment, Lake Claiborne has boasted an abundance of many species of Louisiana's favorite sportfish including bass, striped bass, catfish, bream and white perch or crappie.
And because of its attraction for many area anglers, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has announced that they will hold an informational meeting focused on the management of Lake Claiborne fisheries.
This meeting, scheduled for tomorrow evening, Tuesday, February 24, at 7:00 pm, will be open to the public and park entry is free for attendees.
All those interested in the conservation and management of Lake Claiborne’s fisheries are encouraged to attend at the Lake Claiborne State Park Conference Center at 225 State Park Road in Homer, Louisiana.
During this meeting, LDWF Inland Fisheries staff will discuss:
- Recent fish stocking evaluations
- Historical issues on Lake Claiborne
- Updates on bass, crappie, hybrid striped bass, & catfish
- Future management plans to improve the lake’s fisheries
