Tap-To-Pay Is Coming to Walmart Stores in Louisiana This Week
Louisiana - After years and years of waiting, and for most of us, frustration, Walmart stores here in Louisiana will finally be adding Tap-To-Pay/Apple Pay to their card machines, and it is set to get started soon.
For years, Walmart has been one of the biggest stores in the country that did not accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, and every other Tap-To-Pay option. Instead, shoppers who wanted to pay with their phones had to use Walmart Pay through the Walmart app, which sometimes got complicated.

We all know how debit/credit card machines can be these days; some days they work and others they don't. Sometimes they tell us our card is declined, even though we know it shouldn't be. Well now, we won't have to have any of those issues with Tap-To-Pay set to be introduced at Walmart stores here in Louisiana.
For iPhone users, this means Apple Pay will be an option at Walmart as the new system rolls out. Customers can hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near the payment terminal to complete a purchase using a card stored in Apple Wallet. Other services, including Google Pay and Samsung Pay, are also expected to work with the new contactless system.
A few weeks ago, Walmart announced in August that it would begin adding tap-to-pay at select stores and Sam’s Club locations. The company plans to have the service available at all U.S. Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations by the end of 2026.

When Will Tap-To-Pay Be Available At Louisiana Walmarts?
Starting September 14, 2026, Walmart plans to begin rolling out tap-to-pay at stores in Louisiana. That means shoppers will be able to use a contactless credit or debit card, phone, or smartwatch at the checkout.
There is one catch for Louisiana shoppers, though. Walmart says September 14 is the start of the rollout, so the feature may not appear at every store immediately. Walmart says it plans to complete the nationwide rollout by the end of 2026.
Now, it won't be available everywhere just yet. Walmart is also planning to bring tap-to-pay to its fuel stations, but that won't happen until mid-2027.
So you may be one of those lucky customers, and your Walmart may have tap-to-pay available in less than a week, on September 14th.
