This Louisiana College Ranked Among the Top 50 Most Dangerous Universities in the U.S.!
As summer draws to a close, many of our kids will be heading off to college. For some, it’s a return to the familiar experience of living away from home; for others, it’s their first big step into independence. As they embark on this journey, they’ll be broadening their education while also navigating the responsibilities of adulthood. We all hope college provides a safe environment for them to grow and thrive, but unfortunately, that’s not always the case.
DegreeChoices.com recently released a list of the most dangerous college campuses in America, using FBI crime statistics to compile their rankings. The site analyzed incidents of violent crimes, including:
- Rape
- Murder
- Manslaughter
- Robbery
- Aggravated assault
While it’s impossible to completely ensure anyone’s safety, experts say there are ways to help students reduce their risk by following some simple safety practices.
Tips for Staying Safe on Campus
- Travel in groups, especially at night.
- Always lock doors.
- Familiarize yourself with the location of campus security offices and emergency phones.
- Stay aware of your surroundings.
- Never get into an Uber or Lyft without confirming the driver’s identity. Ask, “Who are you picking up?” A legitimate driver will know the passenger’s name.
Only one Louisiana College made the list. #40 on the list is Tulane University of Louisiana.
