We all love to get outdoors and enjoy our beautiful waterways and nature in southwest Louisiana. We love hunting, fishing, camping, and boating in the area, and there are plenty of places to do all those things.

Some folks love to be on their boat for the day riding around the Calcasieu Lake, skiing, or just posting up at rabbit island or hanging out on their boat at one of the casino's beaches. Some choose to rent an RV spot like at one of our public parks like Holbrook or Sam Houston Jones State Park.

Then some of us just like going to a waterway just to wet a line. Such is the case with this gentleman who decided to head to the old 210 boat launch. We say old because the 210 boat launch doesn't exist right now thanks to hurricanes Laura and Delta.

There is still some good fishing to be had as people still fish there all the time. Last week, one angler got the surprise he wasn't expecting when his line when out, and he hooked up with a fish.

When the angler got the fish to the bank, he got the surprise of his life when he landed a shark! That's right, a shark in the waters of the Calcasieu Lake off of 210 in Lake Charles.

The picture was posted on Facebook and we reached out to the man who posted it to ask him some questions. He said he didn't catch the shark but he did witness it being caught. First off, here is the photo of the shark.

The shark was caught on a rod and reel and the fisherman was using mullet for bait. So next time you decide to jump in the Calcasieu Lake for a little swim, just remember you have no idea what's in the water. Cue the Jaws theme.
