Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - Summer evenings in Southwest Louisiana are about to get even better as the popular Movies Under the Stars series returns for another season of free family entertainment.

The four-week outdoor movie series begins on Friday, July 17, 2026, with the opening showing taking place at Mallard Junction Park, located at 599 August Street in Lake Charles. Hosted by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, the annual event gives families a chance to enjoy a movie outdoors while spending quality time together.

The first feature of the summer will be Disney and Pixar's 2026 animated comedy Hoppers. The movie is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., but organizers recommend arriving early to claim a good viewing spot before the crowd gathers.

Guests are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and other favorite movie-night snacks to make the experience even more comfortable. Complimentary popcorn and cotton candy will also be available for attendees throughout the evening.
