Baton Rouge, Louisiana - The search for the next president of McNeese State University is moving forward. Leaders with the Louisiana System met in Baton Rouge to review applications and choose semifinalists. After looking over the candidates, they picked three people by a unanimous vote.

The three semifinalists are Dr. Dee Dee Anderson, Dr. Wayne Brumfield, and State Senator Mike Reese.

Now these three candidates will travel to Lake Charles for in-person interviews at McNeese. Those interviews will take place on May 12 and May 13.

After that, the final candidates will be interviewed at a special meeting in Baton Rouge on May 19. That is when the next president of McNeese State University could be officially announced.

A Look at the Three Candidates

Dr. Dee Dee Anderson currently works as the Vice Chancellor for Student Life at the University of Nebraska. In this role, she helps students succeed in school and in life. She oversees programs that focus on student support, activities, and well-being.

Before that, she worked at the University of Southern Mississippi, where she managed a large team and a multi-million-dollar budget. She has also held leadership roles at other universities, including the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Louisiana Tech.

Dr. Anderson has many years of experience working with students and helping improve campus life.


 

Dr. Wayne Brumfield has spent many years working in higher education. He has held leadership roles at several universities across the country.

Most recently, he served as Interim Vice President for Student Affairs at Buffalo State University in New York. In that role, he helped improve student life, increase retention rates, and create new programs for students.

He has also worked at schools in California, New York, and Louisiana. Earlier in his career, he spent over a decade at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he helped grow enrollment and improve campus services.

Dr. Brumfield has strong experience in student services, enrollment, and campus leadership.


 

State Senator Mike Reese is a business leader and lawmaker from Vernon Parish. He is a graduate of Leesville High School and has worked in industries like logistics, warehousing, and real estate.

Reese has also served as chairman of Fort Polk Progress since 2006, where he has worked to support military families and improve the local community.

As a state senator, he focuses on economic growth, education, and reducing government regulations. He also has experience working with leaders at both the state and national levels.
