McNeese Basketball Adds Division I Non-Conference Game to 2024 Schedule

The 2024 McNeese Basketball season is just one month away from getting underway and per Sources from the Lake Charles American Press, the Cowboys have bolstered up their home non-conference schedule by adding another Division I opponent to the 2024-25 schedule.

The upcoming McNeese Basketball season promises to be exciting, with Head Coach Will Wade returning for another year with the Cowboys. Fans will watch key returning players like Christian Shumate, Javohn Garcia, and DJ Richards lead the team. Coach Wade has also added several new players through the transfer portal to strengthen the roster.

Per the American Press, McNeese has added a big game to the 2024 schedule, as the Cowboys will face North Texas on Wednesday, December 18. North Texas, from the American Athletic Conference, is a significant upgrade to McNeese's home schedule. This game will be the first part of a home-and-home series, with McNeese set to visit North Texas during the 2025-2026 season.

Originally, McNeese was scheduled to play Champion Christian on that date, while North Texas was supposed to host Mississippi Valley State. Champion Christian is one of three non-Division I teams McNeese was going to play at home this season, but now the Cowboys get a much tougher matchup.

North Texas finished last season with a 19-15 record overall and a 10-8 record in conference play. Santa Clara will be another high-quality opponent that will be coming to the Legacy Center at McNeese this year.
