Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - Families across Southwest Louisiana are invited to come together for an evening focused on community, safety, and neighborhood connections as National Night Out returns on Tuesday, August 4.

The annual event is celebrated in cities across the United States and encourages residents to build stronger relationships with local law enforcement while promoting safer communities.

National Night Out is designed to bring neighbors and first responders together in a relaxed setting to learn more about crime prevention, public safety programs, and the services available throughout their community. It also highlights the importance of teamwork between citizens and law enforcement in creating safer neighborhoods.

In Lake Charles, the Lake Charles Police Department and the City of Lake Charles will host a free community celebration from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Lake Charles Event Center, located at 900 Lakeshore Drive.

The event will allow visitors to meet police officers, firefighters, and other public safety personnel while exploring interactive displays and live demonstrations. Guests can get an up-close look at specialized equipment used by the LCPD SWAT team, Crime Scene Investigations, motorcycle officers, and other emergency response units.

There will also be plenty of family-friendly entertainment throughout the evening. Kids can enjoy inflatable bounce houses, while adults browse informational booths from local organizations. A jambalaya cook-off will offer complimentary samples while supplies last, and a car show will showcase a variety of unique vehicles.

National Night Out continues to be one of the area's biggest community events, bringing neighbors together for an evening of fun, education, and public safety awareness.
