It is the season of giving. During the holiday season, it is always nice to see people step up and help others. While some people may be fortunate, there a many who are not. During the holidays, folks around Southwest Louisiana always step up to help others and that is what we love about our community and the people who live here.

Just last month, we were involved in a blood drive and a toy drive to help our community and we saw a ton of people come out and show their support for our community. This Sunday, one of our local Mardi Gras krewes will be giving away Christmas Trees to our Veterans to try and help make their holidays a little brighter.

The Krewe Of Valhalla has teamed up with Benoit Ford, Nissan, Dodge Jeep, Ram, Chevrolet, and GMC to provide Christmas trees to Veterans this holiday season. The Krewe of Valhalla members consist of armed force veterans whose mission is to support our local veterans in the Southwest Louisiana area and they do great work doing charity work throughout the year for our veterans.

What does Valhalla actually mean? According to Merriam-Webster's dictionary, it means,

the great hall in Norse mythology where the souls of heroes slain in battle are received 2 : a place of honor, glory, or happiness: heaven.

How awesome is that? Well here is something more awesome. The Krewe Of Valhalla and Benoit will be out at VFW Post 2130 located at 5676 Lake Street in Lake Charles this Sunday, December 3rd, 2023 giving away Christmas Trees to veterans.

The event will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the VFW and the first 100 veterans that show up will receive a free Christmas tree. The only thing they ask is that you show your veteran ID to get a free tree.
