
Events Going On In Lake Charles & SWLA This Weekend Oct. 3-5
[KNGT-FM] - The first weekend of October is here, and the weather is getting nicer out there, which means we all will be ready to get out and do something fun. This weekend, there are a bunch of concerts, parties, sporting events, and live music going on all over the lake area.
Want to go watch some football? How about attending a block party? Or are you just looking to do something with the family? You're in luck because all of those types of things are going on this weekend in Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana.
The Cowboy Block Party brought to you by Lake Charles Toyota is going on Friday night on the corner of McNeese/Common Streets at The Grove in South Lake Charles. Friday night's free concert features Southwest Louisiana's favorite band, The Flamethrowers. It is free to attend and open to all ages. You are allowed to bring your lawn chairs and ice chest with what you want to drink and have fun. Gates open at 6:0pm and he band will hit the stage around 7:15 pm.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd will be live at the Golden Nugget Casino's Grand Event Center on Friday night. He will hit the stage at 8:30 pm.

The McNeese Cowboys football team returns home to Lake Charles to take on Southeastern Louisiana at Navarre Stadium Saturday night. Kickoff for the game will be at 6:00 pm in Lake Charles.
Movies Under The Stars is back for its Fall run, and it gets started Friday night, October 3rd, presented by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. This week's event will take place at the Prien Lake Park with the movie, How to Train Your Dragon. The movie will start at 6:30 pm.
Farmers' Markets are going on Saturday morning all across Southwest Louisiana, including Lake Charles and Moss Bluff. Both markets are open from 8:00 am until Noon on Saturday morning. The Lake Charles market is situated behind historic City Hall in downtown Lake Charles. The one in Moss Bluff is located at 325 Sam Houston Jones Parkway. You can shop with the entire family for unique items while also getting fresh fruits and vegetables.
