Lake Charles Swing for a Cure Raises Funds for Colors for a Cause

🐊 KNGT 🐊 | Lake Charles, LA —  Let me tell you about one of my Passions, Raising Money for Cancer. Lets face it, we all know someone that has either had it or we have lost to Cancer. This brings me to talk about a Legend, our beloved Buddy Russ. Russ didnt met strangers and was always first to jump in if someone needed help for a charity.

I think about him a lot. I still catch myself askin, “What would Russ do?” And most times, the answer is simple. Do good. Show up. Help people.

Right before he went to that big radio station in the sky, me and him had some long talks. He kept bringin up two groups close to his heart. Colors for a Cause and Brennan’s Blessings. He told me plain and simple, “Scotty, keep helpin them kids.” So every year we try our best. We do toy drives in his name. We make donations. We talk about their events on Gator 99.5 and all over Facebook. We keep his spirit movin.

Now we got another chance to do some good.

On March 14th at Mallard Cove Golf Course, it’s the Swing for a Cause Golf Tournament. This one helps Colors for a Cause, and y’all, this group does real work right here at home. They help Kiddos and families in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jeff Davis, and Vernon Parishes that are fightin cancer. The money they raise helps to pay rent, lights, gas money for doctor trips, and Christmas gifts for the kids.
