I am sad to have to say this but my partner in crime, my morning show co-host, and a guy who is like a brother to me has decided to leave radio for a great opportunity. We just announced live on the air that Chad Austin will be leaving Townsquare Media Lake Charles and the Gator 99.5 morning show.

We are excited for Chad and the new adventure that he is about to embark on. I have known Chad for 20-plus years now and we always joked, hey what would happen if we ever could do a morning show together?

Well, that became a reality when Chad joined the Gator 99.5 team back in July of 2020. We have been doing the morning show together for over 3 1/2 years now. Just one month after joining the team, we got slammed by Hurricanes Laura and Delta and stayed on the air with our Buddy Russ (RIP) for over 13 hours each day, seven days a week to pass along information to help our local folks in Southwest Louisiana because that's what we do here.

During our 3 1/2 years together, we have done so much. It has flown by. We have emceed countless festivals and local fundraisers and benefits and tried helping our community any way we could. We hate to see Chad go and will miss him a lot.

Chad wanted you to know how he felt about YOU and his time here at Gator 99.5 and what he will be doing next. Here is a message from Chad,

My time here at Gator 99.5 was a blast! It's hard to believe that it's already been 3 ½ years since Mike Soileau approached me about teaming up to create a local, fun, and friendly morning show. Since that time, I've enjoyed watching Gator 99.5 become the #1 country radio station in SWLA! I will forever be grateful for the relationships that I made with our listeners, on-air personalities, sales department, and clients! Those relationships will continue!  I will also never forget the close brotherhood that I formed with Buddy Russ Conrad!

I have accepted a job and will be the Business Development Manager for Singer Supply in Ragley, Louisiana. I'll still be here in SWLA, so make sure you say hi the next time you see me out emceeing a local event! -Chad Austin

We hate to see Chad go but we are so happy for him and his new adventure. We wish him nothing but the best and will miss him dearly. I will do my best to keep up the tradition of a great super local, fun, and friendly morning show.

Personally, I would like to say congrats buddy. I am so proud of you and so happy for you. Selfishly, I am going to miss doing the show every morning together and laughing at our dumb conversations. We didn't just work together, we would go play golf go on vacations, and also hang out, drink beers, and watch sports.
