Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Conducting Seatbelt Checkpoint This Weekend
If you're out and about this weekend, be on the lookout as you head to your destination, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office has announced they will be conducting Seatbelt Checkpoints this weekend.
Whatever you're doing this weekend, whether it is a party, a football game, a dance, live music, or anything else, the main priority is ensuring you are safe.
If you're out having a good time this weekend, be sure to wear your seatbelt and never get behind the wheel of a vehicle while under the influence.
It would be best if you never did that anyway so make sure you have a designated driver or a ride-share app downloaded on your phone so that you can get back home safely after you go to and celebrate.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a seatbelt checkpoint at undisclosed location in the parish this Saturday, September 23. This checkpoint will target individuals who are not wearing their seatbelt.
Louisiana law mandates that all passengers in a vehicle are to be buckled up, even those in the back seat. According to research conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, buckling up in the front seat of a car can reduce your risk of fatal injury by 45% and reduce the risk of moderate to critical injury by 50%.
Buckling up is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash,” stated Calcasieu Sheriff Tony Mancuso.
This checkpoint is funded by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
