Buddy Russ Day Benefit Set For Sunday Feb. 5th, 2023 In Sulphur, La — Entertainment Lineup

If you are from Southwest Louisiana and you listen to the radio or have gone to a festival or event with an emcee,  chances are you know who Your Buddy Russ is.

Your Buddy Russ is on the radio weekdays from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday on Gator 99.5 FM in Lake Charles. He is also always out in about emceeing benefits, fundraisers, Mardi Gras balls, and festivals all around Southwest Louisiana.

Let me tell you a little bit about Russ.

Your Buddy Russ's real name is Russ Conrad and he is born right here in Lake Charles and went to school here. He worked for a long time at L'Auberge Casino Resort as the Entertainment director until he came to Townsquare Media Lake Charles to work on Gator 99.5.

Fun fact on how Russ got his radio name. When he worked at the casino we became really good friends. He would tell me that he always dreamed of being on the radio. So he would come in and visit with me on the radio in the mornings and when we went on the air I would always say "Hey everybody I got 'My Buddy Russ' here with me" so when he started Russ said you call me that all the time so I think I want to use that and Buddy Russ it was.

He is the most giving person I know. Russ is the kind of person that will drop everything to help someone in need. He has done so many countless selfless things for other people to make sure they were taken care of and their fundraiser was successful. Now he needs your help!

Russ has recently seen his cancer come back and has been at two separate hospitals since November undergoing chemo, and blood transfusions and has had to have surgery. He is currently being treated at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas.

The Buddy Russ Day Benefit is set for Sunday, February 5th, 2023, and will take place at Wayne's Deli and Bar located at 3906 Highway 27 South in Carlyss. The doors will open at 11:00 am that day and will be filled with great food, t-shirts and koozies, a live and silent auction, and plenty of live music.
