Bridget Martin Formally Introduced as New McNeese Athletics Director
Lake Charles, Louisiana - A new era is officially underway for the McNeese Athletics Department. Monday, inside the Jack Doland Field House, Bridget Martin was introduced as the university’s new Athletics Director.
While Martin may be a new face to the public, she’s anything but new at McNeese State University. She reiterated on Monday that there would be no slowing down.
“The momentum at McNeese Athletics is not slowing down.”

Bridget Martin is no stranger to Southwest Louisiana or McNeese State University. After nearly 40 years, she simply has a new title.
Martin spent 11 years as the head coach of the Cowgirls before moving into a leadership role. Over the years, she has worked as the Senior Woman Administrator and NCAA Compliance Director.
“I knew it was always a possibility, but I didn’t necessarily see it coming. It was never my goal to be Athletics Director. But with where we are now and the blueprint for continued success, I feel like this is the right time. We have great coaches and staff, and I believe I can help guide that success,” said Martin.

Martin was promoted to Deputy Athletic Director in 2023. Since then, she has helped oversee several sports, including basketball, softball, and volleyball, while also being a helpful asset to former Athletics Director Heath Schroyer.
In many ways, Martin is stepping into a program already built for success.
That success has also shown up financially. In the past year, the Athletics Department raised more than $11 million in private support from donors.
Bridget Martin was thrown into the fire less than two weeks into the job, and as a former women’s basketball coach, she understood exactly what the position meant.
“It’s a great job, and we had a lot of interest. That wasn’t always the case here,” said Bridget Martin. “Now, people recognize what McNeese can offer. We’re excited to bring in a new coach—and if they succeed, that’s something we celebrate, even if it means they move on.”
McNeese will officially introduce Ashton Feldhaus on Wednesday.
