I-10 Now Open in Lake Charles
Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that I-10 from the Louisiana/Texas line through southwest Louisiana has been re-opened.
According to Louisiana State Police, the detour in the Westlake area off I-10 and I-210 has also been lifted in addition to the shelter in place order.
The chemical incident in Lake Charles has been contained and is no longer a threat to motorists or residents in the area.
The Isle of Capri riverboat casino was towed out from under the bridge in Lake Charles earlier today.
It won't be smooth sailing on the interstate for a while though. Louisiana State Police is urging motorists that plan on traveling through the area to utilize an alternate route. While the interstate is open, clean-up operations could lead to lane closures and traffic congestion.
Due to the storm damage, restrooms, gas stations and other facilities are severely limited and often unavailable.
Troopers ask that motorists don't drive around "road closed" signs or barricades for any reason.
