Lake Charles, La. - The annual "Downtown at Sundown" is set to kick off on Friday, May 19, 2017. There are four consecutive Fridays full of events that last from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., thru June 9. There will also be a sesquicentennial event marking the 150th birthday of the City of Lake Charles on March 26, that the public is invited to.

Music Line-Up:

May 19: The Kadillacs

May 26: Boomerang

June 2: Whiskey South

The annual event draws thousands of residents and visitors each year into downtown Lake Charles. Beverage sales benefit the Literacy Council of SWLA, and there will be food, galleries, merch vendors, fun for the kids, and more. The event takes place on Ryan Street in front of Historic City Hall and the Parish Courthouse.

Lawn chairs are welcome, but ice coolers/chests and pets are prohibited, said the news release. If by chance it rains, the concerts will be moved inside of the Lake Charles Civic Center.
