The City of Lake Charles Partners in Parks Initiative is teaming up with local yoga instructors to present Yoga in the Park this June.

Here is a great way to get some exercise while not overdoing it and getting heathier while enjoying the beautiful parks and outdoors in Lake Charles.

Starting June 5 and running every Saturday morning after in June, the community is invited to come out and experience a free yoga session at Drew Park at 416 Dr. Michael DeBakey Drive in Lake Charles.

Yoga instructors will be on site starting at 8:15am each Saturday to provide guidance and answer any questions prior to the start of the class. If you're a beginner or a novice, all levels are welcome, and interested participants are encouraged to arrive a bit ahead of the class’s scheduled start time.

Each Saturday, there is a different theme.

  • June 5 -- Power Yoga
  • June 12 -- Slow Flow
  • June 19 -- Hatha Vinyasa
  • June 26 -- Slow Flow Yoga for Freedom

Since the event is free, what should you bring to each class? Attendees will need to bring their own mat, a towel, and water or other beverage. Sessions will begin at 9:00am and run until 10:00am.
