The Louisiana Cajun Navy, formed last year in response to historic flooding, is an all-volunteer group dedicated to rescuing victims of catastrophic flooding. Yesterday, they headed to Houston earlier to assist in rescue efforts.

However, in a post to the organization's Facebook page, the Cajun Navy is currently standing down after looters allegedly shot at them while trying to overtake their boats. (The post was up for about an hour before being removed.)

Clyde Cain explained to CNN that, while the crew of one boat took shelter in an abandoned delivery truck after their boat broke down, looters attempted to steal the boat. He also explained that people are panicking, and rushing the boats.

Additionally, Cain told CNN that, "We have boats being shot at if we're not picking everybody up. We're having to pull out for a minute. We're dropping an air boat right now to go rescue a couple of our boats that broke, and they're kind of under attack."

Due to the hostile response to their efforts, Cain said the Cajun Navy is on stand down while they work on developing a "new strategic plan".

Here's an update from their Facebook page:
