Fall on the way and so is Thoroughbred Season at Delta Downs Racetrack in Vinton, Louisiana.  Track announcer Don Stevens announced yesterday that the barns at Delta Downs are starting to fill up in anticipation of the Thoroughbred season.

Delta Downs backside is coming alive with activity as horsemen begin to fill up the barns in preparation for the upcoming season, which gets underway on Friday, October 19.

Brent Delahoussaye is one trainer who is eagerly awaiting the 88-day meeting as he moves his runners into barn #1 along with fellow conditioner Doris Hebert.

"We love racing at Delta Downs," Delahoussaye said on Wednesday monring. "All our horses love this surface and they love behing here."

Delahoussaye has a mare who was undefeated last year at Delta Downs and looks to see action early in the new meet.

"We claimed Amazing Saint for $30,000 last year here at Delta," Delahoussaye explained. "It was the most expensive claim ever in the history of this track and since we took her she's made fifty thousand."

In all, Amazing Saint went 4-for-4 at Delta Downs last year and after competing at Louisiana Downs and Evangeline Downs this summer she's back in Vinton. Delahoussaye says she could see action on opening weekend so fans need to keep their eyes open for the daugther of Stephen Got Even.

Horses can start training over the track at Delta Downs next Monday, September 24. Training hours will be from 6 - 10 a.m. with gate works available each day starting at 7:30 a.m.
