The city of Lake Charles has informed us that the intersection of  Bank and 7th Streets in Lake Charles will be closed for at least 45 days starting this Monday June 13th, 2016. This is the intersection right in front of St. Louis High School.

The closure to the intersection is due to the fact that the city will be replacing the roadways at the intersection.  They are doing the project now so that it can be complete before school starts.

Matt Young with the city of Lake Charles said:

The closure will allow contractors to remove and replace the intersection as well as 230 linear feet of 7th Street, 62 linear feet of Bank Street to the north of the intersection, and 89 linear feet of Bank Street to the south of the intersection. The project also includes lining 25 feet of the Pithon Coulee Channel, concrete sidewalk and step modifications.

Affected residences will continue to have access to the closed area during construction.
