Google Timelapse is a cool service that takes historic satellite imagery for a location and steps through the years from 1984 through today. Check out how much Southwest Louisiana has grown.

It's funny how little Lake Charles has actually changed over the years, at least when viewed from space. The most obvious changes have been south of the 210 loop, where Lake Charles seems determined to invest (while kind of ignoring the north end of town), and west of the I-10 bridge, due to all the plant construction that's been happening over that way for the past three decades.

Check it out below. Then go to Google Timelapse yourself and put in any city you want. It's a fascinating time killer.
