A Louisiana Lotto Ticket is Worth $2.7 Million This Morning
Louisiana lottery players who play the in-state game Lotto need to check their tickets this morning because a ticket sold for Wednesday's Lotto game is a winner to the tune of $2.755 million. Now you might be thinking, what are the odds of that ticket belonging to me? Well, if you played Lotto the Louisiana Lottery puts those odds at 1 in 5,245,786 if you really wanted to know.
But believe it or not, on Wednesday drawing a Louisiana sold ticket beat those odds and this morning the holder of that ticket is now a millionaire two times over. The Lotto game is one of the Louisiana Lottery's "flagship" games. Players choose six numbers between 1 and 42 and in the case of the winning ticket from Wednesday, they matched all six numbers that were drawn.
Actually, big-money payouts have become quite the norm for lottery players in the state. In the Lottery's June winnings report we learned that the Louisiana Lottery Corporation paid out $7.4 million dollars to winners in its draw-style games. That figure includes winning amounts from Easy 5, Lotto, Pick 3, Powerball, and Mega Millions.
As far as scratch-off games go, the amount players won is more than double. That's right scratch-off ticket winners pocketed more than $14.7 million in winnings for the month of June. And, there were $2.1 million dollars in other prizes that were awarded to scratch-off winners as well.
But, those figures are for June, this is July and you want to know more about that $2.7 million dollar Lotto prize, right?
Lottery officials say that ticket was purchased in Laplace at the Big River Food and Fuel #7 on West Airline Highway. Prior to Wednesday's big win, the most recent winning ticket for the Lotto game happened in Prairieville way back in February.
If you want to check your Lotto ticket the numbers drawn for July 13, 2022, were:
Incidentally, the Lottery website is showing there are $120,000 in unclaimed big money prizes still on the books. Those big wins include two Mega Millions tickets worth $10,000 each and two Powerball winners worth $50,000 each. You can check the winning numbers on those "unclaimed prizes" right here.
By the way, tonight's Mega Millions Jackpot of $480 million (estimated) will be that game's 18th largest jackpot if it is won tonight. The drawing is scheduled for 9:59 Louisiana time and by rule, ticket sales must cease at least one hour before the drawing occurs.
Saturday's Powerball will be an estimated $82 million dollars. There was a jackpot winner in the Powerball game a little over two weeks ago when a single ticket sold in Vermont claimed the top prize of over $366 million.
Remember, if you choose to play lottery games spend only what you can afford to lose. While we love to tell you the stories of the Big Wins in Louisiana, there are a lot more tickets sold for these games that offer the player very little if any return on their investment.
