12-Year-Old Shot in Lake Charles
In the latest string of violent crimes to hit the Lake Area, the Lake Charles Police Department responded to an alleged drive-by shooting on today. A 911 call brought officers out to the intersection of Shattuck Street and O'Brien Street on Wednesday, July 11, at 12:41 p.m.
When officers arrived they discovered a 12-year-old child had been shot. The boy was immediately transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition, said a media release.
After detectives interviewed several witnesses they learned the reported drive-by shooting was a false claim. The 12-year-old victim was reportedly shot while "several other subjects" played with a firearm.
Check back for more details as the case remains under investigation.
