Workers Comp Suits In NFL? Sharper Just the First?
Imagine the can of worms that would be opened if all NFL players started filing worker's compensation suits. It does seem kind of silly considering the type of money they make; until you consider that an injury can severely limit their future earning potential.
So former Saints defensive star Darren Sharper filed a worker's comp suit against the Saints. His claim was made on a knee injury that he suffered while playing for the Saints in 2009. A lower court dismissed the suit and now an appeals court has done the same saying that Sharper waited too late to file his suit. Does that mean other injured NFL players will be eligible for workers compensation if they file earlier? I don't think we have heard the end of this.
